Persol was born in Italy in the 1920s with the aim of protecting the eyes and improving the performance of pilots and athletes thanks to cutting-edge construction solutions. The allure of these innovative, high-performance glasses soon spread to the world of fashion and entertainment, winning over the public and becoming an icon of Italian elegance and style. Designed in the 1960s to protect the eyes of Turin tram drivers from dust and reflections, the Persol model 649 sunglasses became the brand's first icon thanks to Marcello Mastroianni, who made them famous by wearing them in the 1961 film "Divorce Italian Style". The features that made this model of glasses iconic, full of carefully studied details, fascinate today for their particular refinement and construction technology: the patented flexible hinges and the key bridge adapt the frame to the face in an extremely comfortable way; the sword-shaped detail that appears in various points of the frame was designed by Giuseppe Ratti, founder of Persol. This symbol has taken the name of Supreme Arrow and has become distinctive of these glasses rich in history and craftsmanship.
